Thursdays Thoughts – 3/14/2013

Another week passes by. They seem to go pretty fast lately. I wonder if that is becuase I have a few things to look forward to in the next month. Myabe it is just the way time works. Who knows. here are my thoughts today.

Well my Niners sure made a good move and got what I believe is a steal. They traded a 6th round draft pick to the Ravens for Anquain Boldin. Call me crazy, but I think it is crazy for a team to trade a huge reason they just won the Superbowl and especially for such a low pick.

I know, it is a business and you need to make tough decisions and I know Boldin refused to take a pay cut, but still. I am thrilled for it, though, because I belive my Niners just got a lot tougher. Boldin still has a few good years left in him and he can snatch that ball out of the air with CB’s drapped all over him. Kaepernick must be jumping for joy.

Thursday’s Thoughts 1/24/2013

I have had an up and down week but I am still here and kicking. I have so much running through my brain lately but I am doing my best to not let it overwhelm me. My daughter and I are still doing our morning sharing of what we are grateful for and it is certainly helping throughout the day for me. I think more time is needed for her to really open up to it. Either way, it is a good exercise that we will continue to do. Now on to my thoughts for today.

NINERS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!! Yep I did just yell that. The Niners won an exciting NFC Championship game coming from 17 points down to take the lead in the 4th quarter and then hanging on for the win. They have not been to the Superbowl since the 1994 season so this has been a long time coming. They have been to the Superbowl 5 times before and have never lost. They will be facing the Baltimore Ravens and shooting for their 6th Superbowl Ring.

Baltimore beat New England which I love to see because I am not a Patriots fan and I really do not like Tom Brady. I will agree that he is a terrific QB, but I think he is big ol’ baby and sore loser. He throws fits when things don’t go his way. In my opinion he does not have class like Joe Montana.

Thursday’s Thoughts 1/17/2013

“In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: – When did you stop dancing? – When did you stop singing? – When did you stop being enchanted by stories? – When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?” ~ Gabrielle Roth — Thanks for the quote Facebook user Brandon Waloff

This was posted on my Facebook wall and I just loved it so I thought I would share it here with you. I am not sure if the quote is accurate but I like what it is saying. It is a good way to lead off for today’s Thursday’s Thoughts.

The Niners won their playoff game Sunday so they are off to face Atlanta in the NFC Championship Game for the right to move on to the Superbowl! It was such an exciting game and Kapernick was terrific in the game. He silenced a lot of critics with his performance. I think our chances are really good to beat Atlanta and head to the Superbowl for a shot at our 6th Ring. So exciting!

I was out back during my lunch time the other day at work and a breeze came floating by. Over in the corner near the building there was some trash on the ground, little things like bits of paper towel, paper plates etc. The truth is I am not sure what the trash was just that it was there.

5 Things We Need To Know

This is another terrific post that was on my Facebook page. It was passed on from another terrific site called zenpresence.com

1. Your human life is impermanent.
Self explanatory. No matter what your spiritual beliefs, this life has limits. Cherish every moment.

2. Life has whatever meaning you give it.
So many people, myself included, waste so many years searching for a pre-packaged purpose to be placed at their feet. Save yourself some time. Create a purpose from your values and beliefs. Creating a list of principles, values, and beliefs is a good place to start.

3. You can ( and do) make a difference.
Everything you do ( or don’t do ) makes a difference. No man is an island. All of your choices affect everyone else in your life in one manner or another. Are you adding value?

My Daily Gratitude

Gratitude Picture

Gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what one has—as opposed to, say, a consumer-oriented emphasis on what one wants or needs—and is currently receiving a great deal of attention as a facet of positive psychology. Gratitude is what gets poured into the glass to make it half full. Studies show that gratitude not only can be deliberately cultivated but can increase levels of well-being and happiness among those who do cultivate it. In addition, grateful thinking—and especially expression of it to others—is associated with increased levels of energy, optimism, and empathy. – Psychology Today

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, or more precisely feeling a lot of this lately. I’m not sure I really knew what gratitude truly meant until I started awakening to Spirit. I was certainly thankful for things but pure gratitude is another thing. It is more powerful and is a true feeling deep in my soul.

Sometime after my rebirth I began ending each day talking to Spirit, Mother Earth, and the Universe. I just share whatever is on my mind and I always state how grateful I am to have lived another glorious day. This wasn’t planned. It just sort of happened.
