Gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what one has—as opposed to, say, a consumer-oriented emphasis on what one wants or needs—and is currently receiving a great deal of attention as a facet of positive psychology. Gratitude is what gets poured into the glass to make it half full. Studies show that gratitude not only can be deliberately cultivated but can increase levels of well-being and happiness among those who do cultivate it. In addition, grateful thinking—and especially expression of it to others—is associated with increased levels of energy, optimism, and empathy. – Psychology Today
I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, or more precisely feeling a lot of this lately. I’m not sure I really knew what gratitude truly meant until I started awakening to Spirit. I was certainly thankful for things but pure gratitude is another thing. It is more powerful and is a true feeling deep in my soul.
Sometime after my rebirth I began ending each day talking to Spirit, Mother Earth, and the Universe. I just share whatever is on my mind and I always state how grateful I am to have lived another glorious day. This wasn’t planned. It just sort of happened.
Recently I became consciously aware of it and I realized how wonderful it is. I then made a conscious choice to state my gratitude more often. Now Blythe and I begin each morning stating to each other and the Universe one thing we are grateful for.
I told Blythe it doesn’t matter what it is, how big or how small as long as it is something you are truly grateful for. We have just started this ritual a few days ago but I am already seeing a change.
It is amazing how something so simple can alter my perception throughout the entire day. Blythe is so supportive and does this simply because I asked. She is a typical teenager so this kind of stuff is not her cup of tea, but she does it anyways to support me. I am so grateful for her.
I find that this really helps me when I am going through a rough spot or something is really bothering me as well. I simply take a moment to breathe and state something that I am grateful for. I speak out loud but that is not necessary, it is just what feels comfortable to me.
Here is an article that I think is terrific about Gratitude.
I am grateful for many things and I will continue to state what I am grateful for and enjoy the world that opens up for me. Thank You for reading.
